Kirpi active protection system (APS)
Type: hard-kill APS (not a vehicle) — MoD programme, Q2 2006 first 50 trial fits.
**
Policy (Mar 2009): fitted only on elite first-line STRV-2000 Gökhan and STRF-9040 Kurt — roughly ~620 tanks and ~740 IFVs carry Kirpi. The remainder of the fleet (~2,000+ Gökhan and ~2,100+ Kurt) operate without APS, same idea as the US not fielding Trophy on every Abrams/Bradley: cost, maintenance, and integration drive a selective rollout (4× armoured divs, mech lead brigades, Royal Guard, Korto teams — not motorised Taren, training, second-line, or export).
Not fitted to: PGB-203 Taren, garrison brigades, Ardland export hulls, or amphibious types below.
